Tristan began learning violin and piano through the Suzuki Method at just five years old. A standout moment from this period was performing at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House in a graduation concert alongside two hundred other young musicians—an unforgettable experience.
At 14, he discovered the viola and started playing with the church orchestra at Avondale College (now Avondale University), as well as participating in string quartets for weddings and special events. This experience nurtured his passion for ensemble playing.
In 2016, after relocating from Newcastle to the Northern Rivers region, Tristan joined the Lismore Symphony Orchestra. Rehearsals quickly became a weekly highlight, offering a chance to connect with fascinating people, share laughter, and, most importantly, play great music.
After a setback in his musical education—a failed first year final piano performance examination in college —Tristan decided to pursue a career in medicine. He is a dual fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and the Skin Cancer College Australasia, holds a Master of Medicine in Skin Cancer, and is Director and Principal doctor of Summerland Skin Cancer Clinic in East Lismore. Music remains a vital part of his life, enriching both his personal and professional worlds. He loves sharing his musical passion with family, friends, and even his patients.
